Please be advised the MOA Board of Directors has approved a monthly $5 fee increase
effective January 1, 2019, raising the overall MOA monthly fee from $140 to $145.
The holiday season often heightens financial concerns for us all, and we completely understand and appreciate the burden of adding another expense. The unavoidable costs required to maintain our community make this additional $5 monthly fee a necessity providing an additional $13,800 annual boost for much needed maintenance and repairs. Projects benefiting from the additional revenue include: roof and painting of our pool house, replacing the damaged pool cover, internet service for a newly installed security system, the $152,000 anticipated paving cost for the long overdue roadways on Tunxis, Montowese and Sachem and the rising cost of Mattabasset’s 2019 Insurance Policy.
Mattabasset Owners Association incurred high expenses in 2018 due to storm related tree damage. The Board took additional preventative maintenance steps to remove, replace and trim trees that might cause more damage during our upcoming harsh winter months. Trees removed in emergency situations end up costing the Association more money. Long overdue pool repairs caused 2018 pool budget to rise considerably.
Please plan to adjust any automatic payments or any other payment arrangements you might have to meet the increase beginning January 1, 2019.
Payment coupons are distributed by our accountant. These will be placed in your mail box or attached to your front door the 4th week of December 2018. If you live outside of the Mattabasset Community, the accountant will mail coupons via US Postal service.
Maintaining our lovely grounds while trying to keep owners’ cost down is an ongoing challenge, but a task the Board gladly tackles with the valued input and feedback of our shared community.
