Mattabasset Community

Mattabasset is a planned residential community that was originally developed by Richard DelFavero and DelFavero Builders in the early 1970s. The community consists of a mix of stand-alone single family homes and 2 and 3 bedroom condominiums built in three phases identified as Condo I, Condo II and Condo III.

Once completed, Mattabasset included 185 condominium units and 45 single family homes. The development also includes a community pool, basketball court and several designated open space areas.

What Does Mattabasset Mean?

Mattabasset derives its name from the group of Native Americans living in the geographic center of what is now Connecticut. Mattabasset was the name most associated with these people by the English. Other street names throughout the community are also associated with Native American peoples and languages including Seneca, Sachem, Natchaug and Tunxis.
